Voice-over-Internet-Protocol
is a protocol optimized for the transmission of voice via the Internet or other packet-switched networks. This also known as IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband, broadband telephony, and broadband phone.
It may also an emerging technology that can allows telephone calls, faxes or overhead paging to be transported over an existing IP data network topology.
